A practical sequence for cleaning between services, based on 22 years of doing this work in West Valley faith facilities.
If your congregation runs two or more Sunday services, you have a fixed window between them to return the building to its pre-service condition. In the West Valley, a typical multi-service church has 45 to 90 minutes between the end of the first service and the start of the second. That is enough time to do the work correctly if you approach it in the right order. It is not enough time to improvise.
The checklist below is based on what our crews do between services for multi-service congregations in Litchfield Park, Goodyear, Avondale, and surrounding communities. It is organized by space and sequence, not by who normally does each task.
Restrooms are the most visible measure of building cleanliness for a first-time visitor, and they receive the most use immediately after a service ends. Start here while the sanctuary is still being cleared. Check and clean all fixtures, wipe sinks and counters, replace paper products, empty trash. Do not leave restrooms until they are at the standard you want the next arriving group to see.
The entry is the first impression for the second service. Sweep or vacuum the entryway, wipe any smudges from glass doors, straighten literature and visitor information displays, and empty the hospitality trash if your lobby has coffee service. Pick up toys from the floor, wipe any obvious surfaces that were heavily handled, empty the diaper pail if applicable, and restock wipes and paper towels.
